Dental Bridges in Point Cook

holding dental bridge in handsHelping you keep your bright, beautiful smile is our passion at Sanctuary Lakes Family Dental! Our range of general dentistry services is designed to help keep your teeth healthy for a lifetime – but sometimes, a tooth can’t be saved. When that happens, we offer a variety of restorative options to suit your needs and budget.

For many people, a dental bridge can be an outstanding solution for replacing a missing tooth (or multiple teeth).

What Are They?

This type of restoration consists of two crowns with a false tooth (called a pontic) between them. The crowns are anchored to the healthy teeth on either side of your missing tooth, creating a “bridge” that spans the gap. Since this type of restoration is permanently anchored, you don’t remove it and you can eat, speak and smile normally.

What to Expect

As with all of our services, we begin with a consultation with one of our experienced dentists, who will conduct a thorough examination to determine the best course of care for your individual situation. If a tooth needs to be extracted, we will perform it first, then let it heal for about a week.

When the extraction has healed, we’ll bring you back in to take impressions that are used to create the crowns and pontic. These are sent to the lab to be fabricated. When it’s ready, we’ll bring you back to place the restoration and ensure it fits perfectly. If it does, we’ll bond it in place. If it doesn’t fit, don’t worry. We’ll send it to be adjusted to ensure you end up with the right fit.

Caring for Your Restoration

Brushing and flossing are just as important for your restorations as they are for your natural teeth. It’s important not to let food get stuck under the pontic or at the gum line of the crowns.

We recommend getting your regular checkup and clean every six months to keep your smile healthy and beautiful.
